Pinot Noir Wine Jelly

March 2, 2010

Wine jellies are best known in France but it’s hard to find them in the US. Now Jammies is pleased to offer Pinot Noir Wine Jelly made from the famous Napa Valley, Sonoma and Mendocino County vineyards.

Our first jelly is a Pinot Noir from the Mendocino County area and it’s a winner! Flavors notes of plum and cinnamon roll around your tongue with every bite. We will be producing varietal wine jellies that will be unique for your table and make any cheese and wine event something special. Our first production using Castle Rock 2006 Pinot sold out but we have another batch that’s just been picked!

Ingredients: Castle Rock 2006 Mendocino County Pinot Noir, Cane Sugar, Organic Spices, Organic Citrus Pectin

Price: $12/8 ounces

Jammies is the New Wine

November 8, 2009

Jammies JamsI’m here to tell you…JAMMIES is the new wine, especially when our jams are made by someone who values the nuances of fresh picked seasonal fruit. No longer forced to consume fruit candy sold as “jam” in the grocery store, consumers are seeking the pleasure and comfort found in a small spoonful of memories.
Artisanal jam making, much like wine production, allows JAMMIES to capture the scent and flavor of any season in a jar, then re-experience that moment on demand. Like wine, every variety of fruit reflects its particular characteristics at the moment of picking, as if time were suspended in each particle. But what makes every hand made jar of JAMMIES so different is not just the “terroir” or climate and soil that nourishes the fruit that goes in it, but how we bring out the hidden beauty of that fruit.
When you open a jar of JAMMIES, start by smelling the fruit, then notice the vibrant color. Over processed fruit will be dull while fruit that has been cooked with care will be bright and sparkly.
Next, spoon some onto a plate. Jellies should shimmer in the light, while jams or preserves may have either a thick or soft European set which is somewhat runny. Finally, navigate that spoon to your mouth and taste the jam “au natural”, looking for flavors to develop on your palate without a sugary overtone.
Like wine, everyone will have their own particular preference, but there’s a whole new world of pleasure and comfort to be found for relatively little money in every jar of JAMMIES.
