Ham ‘n Jam San’

October 8, 2009

If you’re looking for something unique to serve your friends ( or just to treat yourself ) this recipe is a winner! Simple…quick…but with a touch of elegance. It all starts with two pieces of sourdough bread ( be sure to face them together, then open, so the pieces will match )

and spread with your favorite Jammies ( here I used Tuscan Moon).

Now pile on the ham slices

and add some cheese such as Manchego
hamsan4

then top with lettuce
hamsan5
and finish with the other piece of bread. Now, the san’ is done or you can take it one step further and make it a panini.

Start by buttering both outer sides of the bread ( or you can spray with a buttery non-stick spray )
hamsan6
while you heat your panini press. ( No press? use a fry pan on the stove and weight the san’ with another pan on top holding a can of tomatoes for added weight).
hamsan7
Press down firmly on top and grill until golden crisp on the outside. The cheese should just be starting to run out.
hamsan8
Now cut on the diagonal and enjoy!
